Cheyenne and “Scrappy”

May-26-2008 By Daddy

I took these pictures of Cheyenne with her “Scrappy” dog that she really seems to like. Its not actually “Scrappy Doo”, but a miniature “Scooby” but we’ve taken to using Scrappy anyway. As you can see in the pictures, she really likes to hold on to him. She has slept for hours, and never taken her arm from around him!

I bought Scrappy way back when Nikki was still in Mercy Hospital, before Cheyenne was even here. It makes me feel good to see that she has taken such a liking to him!

In other news, Cheyenne goes back to the doctor on Wednesday for her shots. She seems to be mostly over her cold now, so there should not be any other delays.

She STILL has not gotten her days and nights right yet. My good wife does her best to stay up all night with her during the work week so that I can get sleep before going to work. I try to stay up on the weekends, but that’s had mixed results.

Many have suggested making her stay awake during the day, but that is much easier said than done. Today I was tickling her, shaking her legs, etc., and she totally ignored me and kept on sleeping! We keep her up as long as we can, and then she eventually wears us down and she’s out.

Well, I guess that’s all the news that is news right now. I mostly just wanted to share the pictures. :)

Thanks for checking in!

Cheyenne has been “under the weather” for a few days now. I, unfortunately, gave her my severe cold. She has been congested and running a slight fever. She has been much fussier than usual, and not wanting to eat very well. I feel so bad for her when she coughs and sneezes; it kind of takes over her whole little body!

She had her two month pediatrician’s appointment today. She was supposed to get her shots, but the doctor decided to wait a week since she was already sick. He said that shots sometimes make the baby sick anyway, and he wanted to give her a chance to recover from her cold first.

He did go ahead and do a full exam on her, and I am happy to report that she passed with flying colors! She is now 8 lbs., 13 ozs., which is up a full pound from her last appointment, and up 3 lbs., 7 ozs. from her birth weight. She is also up to 21.5 inches long, which is nearly a 3 inch growth spurt, since her birth length was 18.75 inches. She passed the rest of the exam as well, as he didn’t see any problems with her lungs, reflexes, etc.

All of this adds up to one significant fact: Cheyenne, according to the doctor, is almost caught up to the growth curve! Praise God!

Thank you for continuing to show interest in our daughter. We are so blessed to have her, and so blessed to have so many who are concerned about us!

Yet another long overdue update.

May-15-2008 By Daddy

Lately, it seems there is always something going on that prevents me from updating. First, it was that my laptop died, thus leaving me without a suitable alternative.

Now, I have been effectively “offline” for several days due to a couple of reasons. My new computer picked up some kind of bug that wreaked havoc on it for days. After several days of fighting with it myself, I finally paid someone to fix it for me today.

We also were out of town for a few days visiting Nikki’s family (and getting in a visit with Kristin & family!). It was Cheyenne’s first extended trip, and I’m happy to report she handled it remarkably well! Her parents, however, learned on the fly that traveling with a newborn is a whole new experience! It took longer to make that trip than ever before!

It was nice to visit with so many folks, and especially to let some people see Cheyenne who hadn’t been able to meet her yet! Nikki’s mom and aunt had a shower for her while we were there, and many new people had the opportunity to meet Cheyenne for the very first time.

In other news, we’re still having trouble getting Cheyenne to sleep at night. She still thinks its “party time” until about 3 or 4 in the morning. Needless to say, this has led to many sleepless, or very little sleep, nights. We’re still hopeful she’ll get turned around pretty soon and get on the same schedule!

I neglected to take my camera to Charleston with us, so I don’t really have any new pictures to add yet, but I hope to take some more in the next day or two and get them posted. I know some others took some pictures while we gone, so if they email me any of them, I’ll post those as well.

Thanks for contuining to check in on Cheyenne!

I took this picture of Cheyenne today and just wanted to share it!

After a long hiatus…

May-3-2008 By Daddy

I’d like to apologize to the regular readers of “Cheyenne’s World.” It has been far too long since I posted. A lot has been going on, but that’s no excuse.

For starters, my computer died an untimely death a few days ago, and the old desktop I had just didn’t get the job done. I have now obtained a new (cheap) desktop that is fitting the bill nicely.

Cheyenne is doing well! We had a rough couple of days, but the problems seem to be resolved now. She had her latest pediatric appointment on Friday, May 2. She weighed in at a hefty 7 lbs., 13 oz.! That was a gain of 26 ounces since her previous appointment! The doctor was quite pleased to see her putting on weight so rapidly.

We did, however, have to make a return trip to the doctor this morning. After Cheyenne’s appointment yesterday, she began fussing much more than normal for her; in addition, she stopped eating almost totally, and what she was eating, she was spitting back up. The doctor fit us right in the morning to take a look at her, and he did some things to help her feel better (I’ll spare the details) and she is much better this evening. She is back to being the happy baby we have come to know and love, and she is eating the way she’s supposed to now. She has been trying to catch up on her missed sleep all day!

Things have sure been hectic around here, as all who have had a newborn can attest to, but I think we’re handling it pretty well. I would especially like to commend my wife for the great job she is doing. She has been an amazing wife to me for nearly four years, and now she is an equally amazing mother. I so appreciate the hard work she is doing. She has been fantastic about staying up in the night to let me sleep to get ready for work. :-)

Well, I will go for now… Cheyenne is up and ready for a bath and a bottle!

New Cheyenne Pictures…

May-2-2008 By Uncle Kris

There have been threats of uprisings because there have been no new Cheyenne Pictures uploaded recently. I am jumping in to stop any rioting in the streets. Here are a few pictures of precious little Cheyenne!
